Tortilla Chips
$2.69 to $2.99
11.15% increase
If minimum wage was $8.00 and you had an increase of 11.2% in wage, the new wage would be $8.90.
That's almost an extra $1.00 an hour just to keep up with the inflation of tortilla chips alone.
Kroger the country's 2nd largest grocer is changing to digital prices tags which will appear on shelves below the products where prices can be changed in an instant to reflect fake sale prices but more likely to increase prices. This will reduce labor costs a bit. I remember reading stories where Germanys inflation was so crazy that it would take a wheel barrel of money to pay for goods, prices could increase literally during your visit to the store. It's said in one case someone supposedly took the wheel barrel and dumped the cash out as it had more value. Of course, the stock markets is readhing all-time highs according to Harris supporters but the overall net effect is the same or worse. I remember when they were talking about raising the minimum wage to $15 when Hillary was running for POTUS but they never did. The migrants will work for less. I drove by a small independent Mexican restaurant that had banner that read "Now Hiring", I don't know, does this mean the owners would rather hire workers than work themselves? It struck me as odd.
